Racing Lines Race Team

Racing Lines is a Lincolnshire-based motorsport team and driving experience, founded in 2019 after Mel and Kat paid for their first arrive and drive — and immediately decided they wanted to run their own car. What started as a shared passion has grown into a fully equipped race team, competing in circuit racing across the UK and offering seat time, coaching and track day experiences to anyone who wants to get behind the wheel.

A team that has your back

Racing Lines isn’t a faceless operation. We’re a husband and wife team who started exactly where you are — paying for a seat in someone else’s car and dreaming of running our own. Everything we offer comes from that experience: proper support, honest advice, and a paddock that actually feels welcoming.

Family run

Mel and Kat run every aspect of the team themselves. You deal with the people who actually know your car — not an agency or middleman.

Fully supported

Arrive and drive means exactly that. Fuel, tyres, mechanics, in-car filming and hospitality — it’s all taken care of before you reach the grid.

Experienced coaching

With backgrounds in supercar instruction, skid pan training and performance driving, Mel and Kat bring real depth to their coaching — whatever your level.

Women in motorsport

Kat is a passionate advocate for getting more women on track. Racing Lines is a team where everyone is welcome — no experience needed.

What you’ll be driving

Racing Lines runs two race-prepared machines — an Audi TT and Kat’s iconic pink and blue Mini. Both are built for circuit racing and fully maintained by the team. Whether you’re after raw front-wheel drive agility or the quattro grunt of the TT, we’ve got a seat for you.

Audi TT

Arrive & drive available

A race-prepared Audi TT, running on Avon tyres with full roll cage, harness and data logging. A well-sorted, predictable car that’s rewarding to drive whatever your experience level.

Mini Cooper S (R53)

Katrina Gray Racing

Kat’s supercharged R53 Mini — instantly recognisable in its pink and blue livery. A proper circuit car with serious grip and a characterful, rev-happy engine. Raced by Kat in competition across the UK.

Meet Mel & Kat

Katrina Gray

Driver & Team Manager

Katrina’s day job — alongside being mum to two teenagers — is running a successful driving school. As a qualified ADI, she teaches, coaches and instructs speed awareness courses, with a career spanning over 15 years.

She’s currently working towards her HGV licence, which will see her adding truck duties to her ever-growing list of roles. Away from the day job, Kat races with the team and is a passionate advocate for Women in Motorsport.

Mel Gray

Driver & Coach

Mel’s involvement in motorsport goes back to childhood, growing up around racing with his father. After a long career as an HGV driver, he moved into the world of performance driving — working as a supercar instructor, coaching members of the public behind the wheel of their dream machines, and providing high-speed passenger experiences.

He’s also worked as a wet grip and skid pan instructor at Rockingham, as an HGV skid pan instructor, and on the wet grip at Thruxton. Today Mel co-runs Racing Lines alongside Katrina, and brings his coaching and instructing experience to everything the team offers.
